Site-specific performance

Introduction

Site-specific performance is a piece of theatre or art, created to exist in a certain place.

Most popularly in today’s society, a piece of theatre is performed at an indoors venue such as a theatre or a hall whereas site-specific takes the theatre out to different locations such as open air theatres, the streets or a park.

It is important to take the location into account while planning and creating the piece as it changes the dynamic by adding factors into the equation such as ensuring the audience are able to see and hear the actors.
